The role of IT governance in the digital acceleration of companies
Text commented by Bruno de Queiroz - Executive Director of Galeazzi & Associados
I bring a different reflection from the usual today after reading this ping pong interview conducted by MIT Sloan Management Review with the general director of Liferay for Latin America Emanuel Di Matteo, about corporate governance and governance in IT.
When we talk about corporate governance, I agree with Emanuel that this area must be “well-oiled” so that it is possible to develop more balanced relationships between stakeholders.
On the other hand, we know that not all companies take into account the importance of the IT area, since we are talking about a sector that is indispensable today due to all technological changes.
What I want to bring here, mainly, is the need to adhere to a corporate governance project with a multidisciplinary council.
In the interview, Emanuel also adds that IT governance can be a relevant potential for the transformation process and, in addition, adequate alignment between this governance and the corporate one helps to reduce market threats.
Which I also agree with. But all of this must be done with a council that knows the internal and external needs widely and that can be evaluated jointly to “oil” the multidisciplinarity of the council itself and articulate so that there is speed and assertiveness in the processes.
What do you think of this reflection?
